Lotus announces three partner teams to run Lotus IndyCar twin turbo V-6 racing engines in the 2012 IZOD IndyCar Series season.

Group Lotus is delighted to announce the appointment of Gordon Murray to the Lotus Advisory Council. Murray will work alongside automotive industry icons Bob Lutz, Tom Purves, Prof. Dr. Burkhard Göschel and Frank Tuch to advise Group Lotus on current and future development.

The purpose of the Lotus Advisory Council is to give advice and guidance on strategic issues such as product strategy, technology, quality, brand, marketing and distribution for Group Lotus.

The Carabinieri select British manufacturer Lotus to provide rapid response vehicles in Rome and Milan. As Italy celebrates 150 years of unification, Group Lotus celebrates an exciting cooperation with the country as two Evora S models have been selected for a very special military duty. The headquarters of the Carabinieri in Rome played host to the event where two bespoke Lotus Evora S cars were handed over by Group Lotus Chief Executive Office Dany Bahar.

Blasting up Goodwood's historic hill climb will be a heady mix of Lotus road and track cars, both old and new. Formula One drivers Vitaly Petrov and Bruno Senna will wow the crowds in their black and gold Lotus Renault GP cars, while 1992 world champion and Lotus ambassador Nigel Mansell drives his 1983 Type 94T, and Martin Donnelly is reunited with his 1990 Type 102 - the car that nearly ended his career.

Nigel Mansell officially opened Group Lotus’s revised and restored Hethel test track with a roar from the 1981 Essex-Lotus 81B in which he started his glorious Formula One career more than 30-years-ago.

Lotus Engineering, a company with over 20 years of EV and HEV experience, has been responsible for all aspects of the electric drivetrain integration for 102EX, the Rolls-Royce Phantom Experimental Electric. This includes the largest battery pack fitted to a road car, together with an innovative 7 kW induction charging system. These components and the electric drivetrain have been integrated by Lotus Engineering into the existing Phantom electrical systems, giving an efficient electrical propulsion control strategy and retaining full vehicle functionality.

The Lotus City Car concept provides a showcase for Lotus Engineering's Electrical and Electronic Integration and Efficient Performance competencies, featuring an advanced series hybrid drivetrain with the Lotus Range Extender engine. This innovative concept car highlights the adaptability of the drivetrain technology and the exceptional capability of Lotus Design.

The production Lotus Range Extender is an extremely compact, lightweight, low-cost engine and generator, designed specifically for hybrid electric vehicles. The initial concept engine was fitted to the Jaguar Limo Green research vehicle and this new version has been redesigned by Lotus Engineering and Fagor Ederlan to optimise performance and develop the engine for series production.

One of the many questions hanging over Lotus since it revealed five cars at last fall's Paris auto show has been where it would find engines for these ambitious new models. Toyota? BMW? Somewhere else? The answer, it seems, is Lotus, as the English automaker is developing its own range of six- and eight-cylinder engines.
